The Wine Offensive

The Wine Offensive has an off-topic cartoon that is also viral political activism at its best.

Cluetrain . . . a must read

If you're on the internet more all the time, it would serve you well to go to this site and read this groundbreaking manifesto. If you missed it the first go round, take the time and read it.

A Busy Two Weeks on the Mountain

If I could only do one athletic pastime it would be downhill skiing. I've never been able duplicate the rush in any other sports activity.

One of the reason I volunteer with my local ski patrol for the past six years or so is to get that pure high on a regular basis. It's no secret that one of the benefits of being on patrol is getting those first two runs in before the general public as we open up the mountain. Often the fresh snow makes up for what ever else the day holds.

Because it's not all fun and games.

Besides medical emergencies we're often assigned staffing duties for mountain events. Over the past two weeks Apex has played host to two major events, the FIS World Cup Freestyle Final and the Canadian National Freestyle Finals.

Both these events required massive effort by the staff of the mountain and hordes of volunteers. Our ski patrol and guest patrollers from many other resorts converged on Apex to help these events become the successes they were.

Recognized and rewarded, the volunteers put in long hours at all the venues so these athletes could perform in these world class events.

After many hours of standing at station and little skiing, I'm hoping for a relentless spring storm to dump a lot of snow for our final weekend of the season next week.
